New Look at the Set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ in Greenwich, London, Suggests Part of the Movie Will Take Place in This Time Period

I just got word that Greenwich’s Naval College in South London was shut down to the public this week, and it seems a major film crew moved in. From what I’m hearing, they’re filming something that looks like it’s set in the past – and the buzz is, it could be a Marvel production! It’s exciting to think a little corner of London might be getting a superhero-sized transformation on screen.

Filming took place from Wednesday through Sunday, January 11th, recreating a 1940s London police chase. The production used classic cars, including old-fashioned police vehicles and a red double-decker bus, and featured many extras dressed in clothing from the wartime period.

Although staff at the Naval College wouldn’t reveal many details, they did confirm a major fantasy sequel was being filmed there – a franchise most people will recognize. On-set photographers were spotted wearing jackets with the Avengers: Doomsday logo, suggesting the popular Marvel superheroes might be involved in the production.

Filming for Avengers: Doomsday officially finished in September 2025, but it’s common for big Marvel movies to need extra shooting after the main filming is done. These reshoots allow filmmakers to make changes to the story or accommodate actors’ busy schedules. Because Doomsday is such a large film, we anticipate needing to do some additional filming.

The next Captain America movie might feature scenes set in London during World War II. This is likely because Chris Evans is returning as Steve Rogers, and his character has traveled through time before. This could allow him to meet up with Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell), who is expected to have a significant role in the film, and logically, her scenes would be set during the war.

The initial trailer featured Rogers holding a baby, leading many viewers to believe it’s Peggy Carter’s child. Adding to the speculation, whispers about a scene after the credits of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ hint that Doctor Doom might be attempting to abduct babies with superpowers.

The first trailer for #AvengersDoomsday is here, and Chris Evans is back as Steve Rogers! The movie hits theaters on December 18, 2026.

The Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich is a popular spot for filmmakers. It’s been featured in major movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Kingsman, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In fact, Thor: The Dark World even showed a digitally created destruction of the building! More recently, Ridley Scott’s Napoleon filmed there, and the location has also stood in for Paris during scenes set during the French Revolution.

Hollywood often chooses the Naval College for filming because it offers ample parking. While central London has streets that could resemble locations, it lacks the space needed for large film crews, actors, and equipment trucks.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced, everything suggests that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie will feature a visit to the multiverse. Fans can probably expect to see wartime London in the film. We’ll share more details as we learn them.
