At long last, fans can look forward to something novel that sparks their enthusiasm! Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a sneak peek of the upcoming second season for Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Following a significant gap since its initial premiere on Disney+ in December 2023, it has been confirmed that the next season will air in December 2025.
In the first season, we delved into Percy’s initial adventure from “The Lightning Thief.” Moving forward, season two will dive into the events of “The Sea of Monsters,” the second book in Rick Riordan’s well-known series. The narrative unfolds as Percy finds himself back at Camp Half-Blood and embarks on a perilous journey traversing the treacherous waters known as the Sea of Monsters, or more commonly referred to as the Bermuda Triangle.

Actor Walker Scobell reprises his role as Percy, but during filming, he faced an unexpected obstacle – not a monster, but his own bed. In his words, “I tumbled out of the bed, and in a single take, I collided my chin with the ground.” He chuckled, adding, “I got up and checked myself in the mirror, only to find that one side of my chin was protruding noticeably due to a big bruise that was clearly visible on camera.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m not alone in bearing the marks of cinematic combat. Leah Sava Jeffries, our Annabeth, disclosed her own on-set wound. She confided that she had a deep gash along her face for two weeks following an accident with her very own prop dagger. In her words, “I was genuinely upset when it healed too quickly, denying me the chance to sport a cool scar.
Actor Aryan Simhadri, known for his role as Grover, openly discussed his challenges during filming. He mentioned he frequently experienced nosebleeds on set, stating, “I’d often have nosebleeds while working.” Actress Dior Goodjohn, portraying Clarisse, suffered an injury during a fight sequence, tearing a fingernail off. Actor Charlie Bushnell, reprising his role as Luke, also encountered an accident, injuring his shoulder not from combat but while putting on a coat. He humorously joked about it, saying, “Definitely not one of my best moments.
Instead of battling only physical injuries, the storyline itself is expanding in scale and intensity. As per Disney’s updates and creators’ announcements, this season ventures beyond studio confines. Unlike a significant portion of the first season that was shot on indoor virtual sets, the upcoming season is opting for real-world locations and practical effects.
I can’t help but feel electrified when I step onto real film sets. They’re breathtakingly authentic, and there’s something truly awe-inspiring about witnessing them transform into magical worlds.” Dan Shotz, our showrunner, shared the rationale behind this decision. “Since we ventured into the Sea of Monsters for this season, we discovered that digital sets wouldn’t be as useful. That compelled us to embrace practical effects instead.
Enthusiasts are in for some grand, fresh sequences featuring naval wars on iron vessels, horse-drawn chariot competitions, treacherous cave explorations, and an impressive ocean liner serving as a gathering spot for Kronos’ troops.
The principal characters make a comeback, featuring Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, and Charlie Bushnell as Luke. Additionally, we have newcomers like Tyson, Percy’s Cyclops half-brother portrayed by Daniel Diemer, joining the exciting journey.
Backstage, Albert Kim has come on board as an executive producer. It’s been confirmed by Disney+ that work on the third season, which will be based on The Titan’s Curse, is already underway.
Excited Percy Jackson followers won’t have to wait much longer as they gear up to witness their beloved demigods embarking on another thrilling adventure, with the recent release of a new poster and Entertainment Weekly unveiling fresh images.
