New Images of the Titular Hero in THE TOXIC AVENGER

For several years now, Macon Blair’s reimagining of Troma Pictures’ iconic horror-comedy, “The Toxic Avenger,” has been eagerly awaited by movie enthusiasts. With Cineverse acquiring the distribution rights, it’s confirmed that the film will premiere in theaters this August. However, we haven’t had many glimpses yet of the titular character, Toxie, portrayed by Peter Dinklage as a janitor transformed by nuclear waste. Luckily, Entertainment Weekly, a treasure trove for all of us, has just released two new daylight images showing off Toxie in full glory.

Get a sneak peek at ‘The Toxic Avenger’, where you’ll encounter the title character, Toxie, played by Peter Dinklage! As described by director Macon Blair, this unique hero is part human, part mutant, but all heart.

Compared to the original Troma designs, this new portrayal of Toxie seems a bit more endearing or adorable, if you will. Despite his infamous ugliness, Toxie in this version embodies director Macon Blair’s description: “Half human, half mutant, all heart.” The movie presents an alternative and less degrading scenario for the character’s mutation, even while wearing a tutu.

In this film, Peter Dinklage portrays Winston Gooze, a janitor at a chemical plant who is striving to support his step-son. An unexpected industrial mishap transforms Winston into a mutant, causing him to be ostracized. However, he harnesses his newly acquired superhuman power to fight back as a vigilante, targeting abnormal individuals, criminals, and corrupt executives. The movie also features Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Elijah Wood, and Kevin Bacon in notable roles alongside Dinklage.

In 2023, I had the pleasure of watching “The Toxic Avenger,” a movie that’s both gruesomely entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny. It’s definitely worth catching in theaters with friends. Luckily, you won’t have to wait long as it starts showing from August 29th.
