New Hammer Films Monster Horror Movie, ‘ITHAQUA,’ Set in 1800s Canada, Is in Production

Hammer Studios, known for their classic horror productions, are making a grand return and introducing a completely new creature to the horror genre. Guided by British theatre impresario John Gore, this iconic studio plans to release a new series of movies that maintain the spooky essence of its past while also embracing innovation.

For the first time in six decades, Hammer is debuting a new terrifying creature called Ithaqua through a horror film titled the same, directed and produced by Casey Walker. This chilling tale unfolds amidst the unforgiving, frozen wilderness of 19th-century Canada, where a small group of people at an isolated fur-trading post find themselves struggling for survival due to the deteriorating industry and scarce food resources. As they band together against the harsh cold and starvation, they must also confront something far more sinister.

In a subtle yet ominous manner, a sinister force dwells in the dim recesses, observing and biding its time. Those unfortunate enough to be ensnared by this power succumb to an insatiable craving for human flesh.

Currently underway is the project known as Ithaqua. This production boasts an impressive ensemble cast, featuring Luke Hemsworth, Kevin Durand, Michael Pitt, Craig Lauzon, and Leenah Robinson. Production companies involved include Kaleidoscope, Jobro Productions, Mongrel Media, Cave Painting Pictures, XYZ Films, and Father of Cain Productions LLC.

For decades, Hammer Films has been a vital part of the horror genre, famed for its unique interpretations of timeless tales like Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Mummy. These films helped establish Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing as horror legends, and now, with their latest creation, Ithaqua, they’re extending that legacy by offering a chilling new take on the genre.
