New Godzilla Anime in the Works: Orange and Igloo Studio Reveal Concept Art

TOHO Animation just announced a new Godzilla anime series at Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2025.

Studio Orange, the team behind Godzilla Singular Point, is creating the project with Igloo Studio from Thailand, known for their work on My Daemon. They also released some early concept art when making the announcement.

I was really excited to hear from Keiji Ota, TOHO’s head of Godzilla, about their new project! He explained it’s something completely new for the franchise – a story about a boy who has the power of Godzilla. He thinks this will let them really capture how people today feel, both the fear and the hope. Unfortunately, they didn’t share any other details yet, like when it’ll come out, who’s in it, or what the full story is all about, but I’m already hooked!

This new show builds on the success of the 2021 anime Godzilla Singular Point, which blended traditional monster action with a modern science fiction story. Singular Point was created by the studios Bones and Orange, and was available to stream on Netflix in Japan and around the world.

The show was highly acclaimed, receiving awards from VFX-Japan in 2022 for its animation in the television/distribution program category, and the Best Media award from the Seiun Awards. Fans are eager for a second season, and both the writer, Toh EnJoe, and director, Atsushi Takahashi, have suggested it’s a possibility, though neither has confirmed anything definitively.

Okay, Godzilla fans, get ready! This new anime really does something different with the franchise. It’s still the Godzilla we know and love, but it’s told through the eyes of a young character who has a really special link to the monster himself. What I especially liked is that Orange and Igloo Studio are bringing a new, visually striking style to the series, while still clearly respecting everything that’s come before. It feels both fresh and familiar, which is a tough balance to strike, but they pull it off!
