The popular horror series The Conjuring will continue, following the success of The Conjuring: Last Rites, which earned $487 million worldwide.
Warner Bros. and New Line are working on a new prequel movie that will explore the beginnings of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s career. This film will establish an earlier timeline within the ongoing Conjuring universe.
Rodrigue Huart is being considered to direct a new short film. The screenplay is being written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who previously wrote the scripts for several Conjuring movies and The Nun II.

Cast Questions After Last Rites
Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson might not be back for future films. With Last Rites wrapping up the Warrens’ story, and the series now focusing on the past, it’s likely new, younger actors will take on the roles. This allows The Conjuring franchise to continue while moving forward to a different time period.
The Conjuring Heads to HBO
As previously announced, The Conjuring will also expand to television.
I’m really excited to hear that HBO is expanding this world with a new series! They’ve brought on Nancy Won as the writer, producer, and showrunner, which is fantastic news. Right now, they’re keeping the story a secret, but I’m already hooked and can’t wait to find out more.
Record-Setting Horror Universe
The Conjuring film series, which includes nine movies like Annabelle and The Nun, has made $2.7 billion around the world. A key to its success is that these films are relatively inexpensive to make compared to other big-budget movies. James Wan launched the franchise, and Peter Safran has been involved in producing every film since.
