New Characters and Mobile Suits Unveiled in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX!

As a die-hard fan of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, I’m thrilled to share that the official Japanese site has dropped a significant update! Fresh faces, innovative mobile suits, and some surprising inclusions have been unveiled. If you don’t want any spoilers ruining the surprise, now would be a good time to avert your eyes.

In this production, we’ve assembled a diverse array of talented voice actors. Mariya Ise portrays Annqi, Yukitoshi Tokumoto voices Jezzi, and Kōsuke Echigoya lends his voice to Pomeranian. Shōya Chiba takes on the role of Nabu, while Yuusuke Nagano plays Kaine. Moreover, Rie Kugimiya will bring our well-known AI companion HARO to life, and a special four-legged robot named CONCH will join us too.

On the side of the Army from Zeon’s Principality, we find Shinji Kawada as Challia Bull, Seiichirò Yamashita as Xavier Olivette, and Akane Fujita as Comoli Harcourt. The iconic character Char Aznable is voiced by Yūki Shin, while roles are taken on by Kōsuke Gotō and Taichi Takeda for Denim and Dren respectively.

Let’s delve into the topic of these incredible robotic machines, known as Mobile Suits. The show features the introduction of the gMS-α Red Gundam, along with the classic RX-78-02 White Gundam. Viewers will also spot the familiar MS-06 Zaku and MS-06S Char’s Zaku in action.

Prior to the television series of “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-” being released, this animated film will be shown in cinemas first, with its premiere happening on January 17th at 426 different locations, including 52 IMAX screens. The movie had a strong opening, becoming the top-grossing film in Japan during its initial two weekends. It sold more than one million tickets and has already earned approximately 1.6 billion yen (around $10.3 million USD).

The narrative unfolds around Amate Yuzuriha, a teenager residing in a space colony. Her routine life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Nyaan, a refugee who introduces her to an illicit mobile suit combat called Clan Battle. Fighting under the pseudonym ‘Machu’, she immerses herself in grueling conflicts until a mysterious Gundam mech emerges, hotly pursued by both the space military and law enforcement. The driver of this machine? A young man named Shūji.

In the main roles, we have Tomoyo Kurosawa voicing Amate, Yui Ishikawa as Nyaan, and Shimba Tsuchiya taking on the role of Shūji Itō. This anime is helmed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, recognized for his work on FLCL and Gunbuster 2: Diebuster.

In this production, Yōji Enokido (known for Bungo Stray Dogs, Utena, and Sailor Moon Super S) and Hideaki Anno (renowned for Evangelion and Shin Godzilla) share their expertise in scripting. The character designs are the work of Take (Katanagatari and Zaregoto), while Ikuto Yamashita (Evangelion and Shin Kamen Rider) focuses on the mechanical designs.

New team members joining the project are Yumi Ikeda and Shie Kobori, who will focus on animation character design; Sejoon Kim, handling mechanical animation; and Toshiaki Ihara, Mahiro Maeda, and Shingo Abe contributing to the overall design. The production is under Bandai Namco Filmworks, with distribution by TOHO CO., LTD. in collaboration.

As a dedicated Gundam enthusiast, I can’t help but feel excited about the prospect of diving into GQuuuuuuX. With its impressive talent pool and groundbreaking debut, it seems poised to become an essential watch for fellow Gundam aficionados like myself.
