New Avengers-Thunderbolts: $5 Ticket Fiasco, Box Office Bomb!

The film titled “Thunderbolts” (formerly known as “New Avengers”) is still struggling at the box office, with its opening day takings ranking among the lowest for a first Tuesday release within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, once adjusted for inflation.

Additionally, it aligns with Monday experiencing one of the lowest figures as well, and the disappointing opening weekend box office revenue, which is the second-lowest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history.

What is the Tuesday box office?

On Tuesday, thunderous box office earnings totaled $7.4 million. This surpassed Captain 4’s $6.3 million and The Marvels’ $3.3 million. It also exceeded Quantumania’s $7 million and Eternals’ $5.3 million.

Additionally, it appears that Thunderbolts falls short compared to Feige’s subsequent box office successes following Endgame, such as Black Widow, which was simultaneously released in theaters and on Disney+ (earning $7.7 million), and Shang-Chi, whose earnings totaled $6.6 million initially but climbed to $7.79 million when adjusted for inflation.

Does the Tuesday bump mean anything?

Despite the fact that New Avengers/Thunderbolts had a significant increase of 48% on Tuesday compared to Monday, what significance does this hold if there were no viewers on Monday to begin with?

Furthermore, on Tuesday, it outperformed “Captain America: Brave New World,” but ticket prices for that day are at rock-bottom levels.

Or:

Tuesday saw it surpassing “Captain America: Brave New World” at the box office, yet tickets for the same day are incredibly cheap.

Disney earned significantly less revenue compared to their ticket sales, with only about half of the domestic earnings and even less from international box office.

Thunderbolts’ second weekend could see big dip

It means that rather than watching the movie immediately, some fans opted to wait for the midweek discount day (where tickets were $5 each) to catch the movie, Thunderbolts.

Another interpretation might be that it’s possible the film will experience a significant decrease in ticket sales during its second weekend. If audiences are holding off and not keen on paying full price, why would they delay their viewing and still pay full price for the second showing instead?

Compared to another dreadful Marvel Cinematic Universe film, the initial viewing of “Thor: Love and Thunder” on its first Tuesday attracted twice as many MCU enthusiasts, earning a whopping $13.6 million!

MCU stans are in a stake of shock and disbelief

The Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts on social media are boasting as if the movie “Thunderbolts” has already grossed a billion dollars (LOL), but in reality, it’s falling short compared to Captain America 4 – a film that Disney admitted in their latest investor report was a significant flop.

During its initial five days, the movie Cap raked in more than $106 million at the box office. In contrast, New Avengers, following its rebranding as such, has managed to gross approximately $86.7 million so far.

Regardless of whether Thunderbolts manages to match Cap 4’s earnings (approximately $400M), and considering their high production costs, both films would still be considered financial flops. The numbers just aren’t in their favor, no matter how you look at it.

Maybe those shillboys should spend their hard-earned dollars and go see Thor: Ragnarok again!” or “Perhaps those lads should use their saved money to watch Thor: Ragnarok once more.
