The IMDb ratings are in, and Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is now the top-rated anime film of 2025! It’s surpassed Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, currently holding a rating of 8.5, with Chainsaw Man scoring an 8.6.

The film, titled 劇場版 チェンソーマン レゼ篇 (Gekijō-ban Chensō Man Reze-hen) in Japan, is an action-packed dark fantasy anime. It’s based on the widely popular manga series, Chainsaw Man, created by Tatsuki Fujimoto. This movie continues the story directly after the first season of the anime and was brought to life by MAPPA. Tatsuya Yoshihara directed it, and Hiroshi Seko handled the writing.
The Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc first became available in Japan on September 19, distributed by Toho. Outside of Japan, Crunchyroll will handle the release through Sony Pictures Releasing. It will start with some Asian countries on September 24, and then be released worldwide by October 24.
The movie launched successfully in Japan, with over 272,000 tickets sold and revenue exceeding ¥420 million (about $2.8 million) on its opening day. It topped the Japanese box office during its first weekend, selling 807,000 tickets and grossing ¥1.251 billion (roughly $8.46 million). This performance ended the nine-week run at number one for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.
