New Action Movies & TV Shows Set to Release in December 2025

As a huge movie buff, December 2025 is already looking incredible! It’s going to be packed with the kind of action movies I love – everything from big sequels I’ve been waiting for, to some exciting new stuff. I’m especially hyped for the return to the world of Pandora, and seeing how the story wraps up in Hawkins. It seems like both theaters and streaming services are really going all-out to give us a fantastic finish to the year, with a great mix of anime, historical dramas, and, of course, plenty of superhero action. The holiday season is going to be awesome!

‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ (2025)

Premiering on Starz on December 5, 2025, this new series brings back the popular Spartacus franchise with an intriguing twist. It asks the question: what if the villain Ashur had survived? In this reimagined story, Ashur not only lives but receives Batiatus’s gladiatorial school as a reward for helping the Romans. Nick Tarabay reprises his role as Ashur, and the show promises the same intense fighting and political scheming that made the original series so compelling. Fans can expect a thrilling and complex story set in an alternate version of history.

‘JUJUTSU KAISEN: Execution -Shibuya Incident x The Culling Game Begins-‘ (2025)

Hitting theaters December 5, 2025, this new movie is a must-see for fans of the series. It combines the thrilling conclusion of the Shibuya Incident with the start of the dangerous Culling Game. The film shows the aftermath of the chaos that hit Tokyo, including Yuji Itadori’s impending execution by the powerful sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu. Expect incredible action and a glimpse into what’s coming next in this supernatural story.

‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ (2011)

Quentin Tarantino’s ultimate version of his martial arts epic, combining both parts into one film, will be in theaters worldwide on December 5, 2025. This version includes the full, originally planned anime scene and keeps the vibrant color scheme for the intense battle at the House of Blue Leaves, which was previously shown in black and white for audiences in the West. The Bride’s complete, four-hour quest for revenge, from the ruined wedding to Bill’s fortress, will be shown without breaks. Fans have been waiting over ten years for this final cut to be released in theaters everywhere.

‘Under Pressure’ (2025)

This compelling drama arrives in select theaters December 5, 2025, and delves into the immense pressure faced by those making crucial decisions during a key historical event. The film unfolds over the tense hours before a large-scale military operation, where both the weather and risky strategies will decide the fate of many. Featuring strong acting, it examines the mental strain on the leaders and specialists who bear the responsibility when there’s no room for error. It promises to be a captivating look at leadership and the weight of being in command.

‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ (2023)

As a huge fan of the books, I’m thrilled to hear that Percy Jackson and his demigod pals are heading back to Disney+ on December 10, 2025! This time, they’re taking on the quest from The Sea of Monsters. It sounds like things are getting really intense – they have to brave some seriously dangerous waters to find the Golden Fleece, which is the only thing that can protect Camp Half-Blood. I’m especially excited to see Tyson the Cyclops join the show – he’s always been a favorite! It looks like the series is really expanding the mythological world and raising the stakes, while still keeping that perfect blend of humor, heart, and, of course, awesome Greek mythology that we all love.

‘Record of Ragnarok’ (2021)

On December 10, 2025, Netflix will release the latest installment of the epic battle between gods and humans. The series follows the same format of individual fights, pitting historical heroes against powerful gods in a desperate attempt to save humanity. As the competition heats up, new fighters join the fray, each with their own distinct fighting skills and personal stories. The stakes are incredibly high, and the Valkyries are putting everything on the line to create the powerful weapons needed to stand against the gods.

‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ (2024)

Hayley Atwell returns as Lara Croft in a new animated series coming to Netflix on December 11, 2025. The show continues the story after her recent adventures and fills the gap between the newer Tomb Raider movies and the original games. Lara will face a worldwide danger that makes her deal with her past and accept her role as the Tomb Raider. Expect plenty of exciting action, challenging puzzles, and a deeper look into the history and personality of this beloved character.

‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ (2025)

The next installment in James Cameron’s Avatar series arrives in theaters on December 19, 2025, and will reveal a more dangerous side of Pandora. Jake Sully and Neytiri will meet the Ash People, a Na’vi clan who are skilled with fire and have a much more warlike culture than the Na’vi audiences have previously seen. The movie will delve deeper into Na’vi society, demonstrating that different clans can have very different ways of life, all while the humans continue to pose a threat. Expect stunning visuals, including volcanic landscapes and completely new creatures, in this emotionally powerful continuation of the story.

‘Stranger Things’ (2016)

The hugely popular series will finish its run on Netflix with two big releases: December 25th and December 31st, 2025. The people of Hawkins will fight their final, biggest battle as the terrifying Upside Down world merges completely with their own. This will bring the original group of friends back together to face Vecna one last time. The final episodes will be long, like movies, and will finally wrap up storylines that have been developing for almost ten years. Splitting the finale into two parts over the holidays suggests Netflix is planning a huge event to end the year with a bang.

‘Cashero’ (2025)

On December 26, 2025, Netflix will launch a new superhero series inspired by a hit webtoon. The show centers around an average guy who suddenly develops incredible strength, but there’s a catch: his powers are tied to how much money he has. This action-packed and funny drama explores what happens when a hero has to spend his own savings to fight crime, forcing him to choose between doing good and going broke. It’s a unique take on the superhero genre, combining thrilling action with a clever look at society and money.

‘The Copenhagen Test’ (2025)

I’m really excited for this new show coming to Peacock on December 27, 2025! It stars Simu Liu as an intelligence analyst, and the premise is totally gripping. Apparently, his character discovers someone has hacked his brain, letting them see and feel everything he does – and read his thoughts! He’s stuck in this incredibly tense situation, trying to figure out who did it while pretending everything’s normal. It sounds like a really cool mix of futuristic tech and classic spy thrillers, and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

Tell us which December release you are most excited to watch in the comments.
