‘Never Experienced Any Pain…’: Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Her Abortion With Late Son Jack

As an ardent admirer of Chrissy Teigen, I find myself constantly moved by her courage and honesty, particularly when it comes to discussing matters that are often shrouded in secrecy or stigma. Her recent speech at the rally for Arizona’s right-to-abortion initiative was a powerful testament to her resilience and determination to bring about change.

Chrissy Teigen struggled to accept the loss of her baby boy, Jack, who was stillborn before birth. On October 27th, at a rally for Arizona’s pro-abortion initiative Proposition 139, Teigen publicly shared her story. In her speech, she disclosed that she didn’t realize when she had an abortion due to the procedure feeling nearly painless.

She lost her son Jack in 2020 after experiencing complications in pregnancy. In a clip of her speech shared by CNN, Teigen recalled how her pregnancy with Jack took a turn for the worse. “One thing that was hard for me was that I never experienced any pain in it so I never thought of it as being anything other than a miscarriage,” she said.

She claimed that a lot of stigma is attached to abortion. “Nobody wants to say abortion … I didn’t even know I had one.” Abortion is assumed to be related to excruciating pain, but while getting blood transfusions, little did Teigen know that her baby’s life was in danger.

She remembered John Legend, who is known as the All of Me singer, sharing with someone his strong sentiment about an abortion being “awful” and the hardships people face afterwards. When he shared this information with her, she was left stunned and incredulous. “I couldn’t believe it,” Teigen explained, “I was like, ‘There’s no way. Really? There’s no way.’ My mind was completely blown that day.

At that moment, she suddenly realized how terrifying it was not to comprehend the changes in her body at such a crucial stage. She questioned, “How could anyone else possibly understand what’s happening to us?

Teigen, mother to Luna (8), Miles (6), Esti (20 months), and Wren (15 months) with Legend, advocates for eliminating the social prejudice surrounding abortion and giving a platform to individuals who have experienced similar circumstances. In her mission, she emphasizes that “abortion is an essential healthcare service.

On October 23, Legend openly discussed a tragic event – a miscarriage that occurred around the 20th week of pregnancy. This unfortunate incident involved a premature separation of the placenta from the uterus wall, known as partial placenta abruption. “She was experiencing a miscarriage and heavy bleeding,” he disclosed, further explaining that her life was at risk due to these complications.
