In light of fresh accusations against Neil Gaiman, Netflix has decided to terminate the “The Sandman” series after its upcoming second season premiere.
Will not impact The Sandman Season 2
According to Variety’s report, the cancellation won’t affect Season 2 of “The Sandman,” however, this clearly indicates that there will be no Season 3.
Despite the show’s cancellation, the timeline for Season 2’s launch remains unaffected, with episodes scheduled for airing in 2025 as previously planned.
No plans for The Sandman Season 3 says the showrunner
According to a statement made by “The Sandman” showrunner, Allan Heinberg, they had already decided to conclude the show after Season 2 even before announcing it on Friday. This information was shared with Variety.
The ‘Sandman’ series has primarily revolved around Dream’s narrative since its inception. In 2022, upon examining the remaining Dream-related material from the comic books, we realized there was sufficient content for just one more season. We are deeply appreciative of Netflix for reuniting our team and offering us the opportunity to create a faithful adaptation that we believe will both astonish and captivate loyal readers of the comics as well as fans of our series.
When does The Sandman Season 2 get released?
The second season of “The Sandman” isn’t set to launch with a precise date yet, but expect it to premiere on Netflix around the year 2025.

This past summer and more recently this month, Neil Gaiman has been confronted with charges of sexual misconduct. Yet, he has strongly refuted these claims.
Apart from the unfortunate news about the cancellation of “The Sandman” on Netflix, I’ve learned that Dark Horse Comics has also decided to halt the publication of Neil Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys,” and regrettably, the production of the “Coraline” musical has been called off as well. This is certainly a blow for fans like me who were eagerly anticipating these projects.
