Netflix just dropped a new trailer for the second season of its One Piece live-action series, and announced it will be back on March 10th. The trailer is part of Netflix’s promotion for the new season and gives fans a great look at what’s coming up for the Straw Hat crew.
Season 2 picks up after a three-year gap, and the adventure really expands! This time, Luffy and his crew leave the East Blue and enter the dangerous Grand Line. Expect to see much larger settings, bizarre islands, and even stronger opponents. According to Netflix, this new journey will bring them closer to the treasure they’ve been searching for.
The trailer features Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, and shows him discovering what it means to be a pirate. He’s told that a pirate is “someone who has adventures and dreams, and never ever gives up.” This scene sets the stage for the new season, which promises more ambitious goals and difficult obstacles.

The series also showcases exciting new settings like Loguetown and Whiskey Peak. The Straw Hat crew is eager to explore, but their adventures soon draw trouble their way. They quickly find themselves facing a dangerous criminal organization called Baroque Works, led by the powerful Mr. 0, portrayed by Joe Manganiello.
The preview introduces several new villains, notably Miss All Sunday, portrayed by Lera Abova, who threatens Luffy with the deaths of his friends. We’ll also see other members of Baroque Works, including Miss Wednesday, Mr. 3, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, Mr. 9, and Miss Goldenweek. Familiar foes Buggy and Smoker will be back to pursue the crew as well.
The familiar faces from the show are all returning for the new season, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, as well as Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Gibson, and Taz Skylar. This season was developed with Matt Owens and Joe Tracz, but it will be Owens’ last, as Ian Stokes will be joining as showrunner for the already-in-production Season 3, as reported by Collider.
To mark the release, Netflix is hosting fan events around the world. These screenings will start in Mexico City on February 23rd and then move to Rio de Janeiro in March.
Eiichiro Oda, the author of the original One Piece manga, recently expressed excitement for the new season. He promised it will be surprising and completely change everything viewers thought they knew from Season 1.
