Wayward is set in the seemingly quiet town of Tall Pines, Vermont, but beneath its peaceful exterior lie hidden and troubling secrets.
Leila and Abbie, two students who have run away from home, join forces with Alex Dempsey, a new police officer in town, to expose the secrets and dangers hidden within it.
When Alex and his wife, who is expecting a baby, move to Tall Pines, they start experiencing odd occurrences linked to the mysterious headmistress of Tall Pines Academy, Evelyn Ward, portrayed by Toni Collette. Critics have especially lauded Collette’s performance, noting how she brings complexity and suspense to the thriller.

I’m really hooked on Wayward! It seems like a lot of other people are too, and I think it’s because it’s so suspenseful and mysterious. Plus, the acting is fantastic. It’s just got a really compelling story and characters you actually care about, which is why I think it’s doing so well on Netflix.
