At a gala event hosted by the Academy Museum in Los Angeles on October 19, 2024, the renowned actor known for his role as Erik in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters series expressed enthusiasm about potentially taking on the role of Patrick Bateman in the mentioned film.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor from the 2022 horror film “They/Them” commented, “Since Luca is taking on American Psycho, I believe I can handle the role of Patrick Bateman.
In addition, Koch expressed his belief that, given the opportunity, he might excel at portraying a serial killer on screen.
Continuing the conversation with the media outlet, Koch stated that following his portrayal of Erik on Monsters, he’s consistently received substantial offers, spanning a variety of opportunities.
The A New York Christmas star said, ‘Items are arriving, items are shifting, events are unfolding as we take meetings. The situation seems promising, so let’s wait and see.’
He, however, also mentioned that nothing has been locked yet.
By the given deadline, it’s possible that Luca Guadagnino could helm a fresh interpretation, distinct from a remake, of the 1991 novel by Bret Easton Ellis – “American Psycho”. Originally, Christian Bale portrayed the investment banker Bateman in this story.
In the same interview, Cooper Koch also stated that Challengers is his favorite release of this year.
The Guadagnino film stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist in a never-before-seen role.
