Netflix has unveiled a fresh trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2”, signifying that it will be out on screen starting from July 25th. Adam Sandler once again steps into the shoes of our titular hero, over two decades since the initial movie’s premiere. The cast includes some familiar faces along with an impressive roster of fresh talent.
Sandler Returns With a Loaded Cast
The video preview features Adam Sandler reprising his role as the impulsive golfer, joined by familiar faces Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald. Additionally, you’ll see Sadie Sandler, Sunny Sandler, Blake Clark, and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (known as Bad Bunny) in the production.
The follow-up introduces a multitude of fresh faces to its ensemble, featuring Travis Kelce, Eric André, Margaret Qualley, Martin Herlihy, Tim Herlihy, Jackie Sandler, Nelly Korda, Nancy Lopez, Verne Lundquist, Jack Giarraputo, Kevin Nealon, Benny Safdie, John Farley, Kym Whitley, Lavell Crawford, Ken Jennings, Cam’ron, Eminem, Post Malone, Marcello Hernandez, Dan Patrick, Oliver Hudson, Reggie Bush, Becky Lynch, Nikki Garcia, and Jack Nicklaus.
Pro Golfers Make Cameos
In the sequel of “Happy Gilmore,” several well-known golfers lend their real-life presence to the film’s madness. Keep an eye out for John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, and Will Zalatoris. Quinn Stiller takes on the role of Zalatoris’ caddie, while Bad Bunny makes a cameo as a busboy.
Creative Team Returns
The same group of imaginative minds behind the original production are reuniting. Tim Herlihy, known for co-writing ‘Happy Gilmore’, will pen the follow-up. Dennis Dugan, who originally directed, is now overseeing production. Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds, previous producers, are back as well.
Kyle Newacheck, who previously worked with Sandler on Murder Mystery, directs Happy Gilmore 2.
Reminder: What Happened in the First Film?
1996’s film “Happy Gilmore” saw Happy triumphing over Shooter McGavin in the Tour Championship, thus saving his grandma’s house from the clutches of the IRS. The movie chronicled the unlikely rise of a struggling hockey player into the world of golf, bolstered by Chubbs Petersen (played by Carl Weathers) and his faithful caddy, Allen Covert.
As a die-hard movie fan, I’m beyond excited for the return of Happy Gilmore! Two decades have passed since we last saw him on the ice hockey rink turned golf course, but the sequel promises to bring back all the nostalgia, madness, and outrageous appearances that made the original so iconic. The specifics of the plot are being kept under wraps for now, but I can hardly wait!
Release Date
