Co-Lead Role Kept Under Wraps
While the specifics of their character are still under wraps, Petticrew has been cast as a main character and co-lead in the thrilling new adaptation.
The Assassin’s Creed games revolve around a centuries-old conflict between two groups: one seeking to control humanity’s destiny, and the other dedicated to preserving freedom of choice.
Although previous games in the series have taken place in various historical periods, the newest installment will introduce brand new characters and a fresh timeline. Italy is confirmed to be one of the game’s locations, and development is scheduled to start in 2026.

Creative Team and Franchise Background
I’m really excited about this new series! It’s being created and overseen by Roberto Patino and David Wiener, and a fantastic team – Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones from Ubisoft, and Matt O’Toole – are all executive producers. It’s actually part of a deal Netflix made with Ubisoft back in 2020, so we’ve been waiting for something cool to come from it, and it looks like this is it!
First launching in 2007, the Assassin’s Creed series has become one of the most popular video game franchises ever, with over 230 million copies sold worldwide.

Petticrew’s Career Momentum
Jessie Buckley has been gaining recognition for their acting work. Recently, they were nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for their role in the FX series Say Nothing, and previously won Best Lead Actress at the Irish Film & Television Awards. Buckley first gained attention for their performance alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the film Tuesday, and has since starred in Channel 4’s Trespasses and completed work on the upcoming Hulu series Furious.
They are represented by leading agencies including CAA, Range Media Partners, B-Side Management (UK), and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Deadline first reported on the news.
