Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, announcing its return in 2026. The trailer gives a first look at Toph, played by Miya Cech, joining Aang (Gordon Cormier), Katara (Kiawentiio), and Sokka (Ian Ousley) to complete Team Avatar.
This live-action series is inspired by the hit Nickelodeon cartoon and centers on Aang, a young hero who’s learning to control water, earth, fire, and air. His goal is to restore peace to the world and defeat the Fire Nation. The second season begins after Aang and his friends successfully defend the Northern Water Tribe. They then embark on a journey to find the reclusive Earth King and enlist his help in their fight against the Fire Lord.
As a huge Avatar fan, I’m so excited! They just dropped the first teaser for Season 2 of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender, and it looks amazing! We’ll have to wait until 2026 to see it, but it’s going to be worth it!

Christine Boylan, who has worked on shows like Poker Face and Once Upon a Time, is an executive producer and writer for the series. Jabbar Raisani, known for his work on Lost in Space and Stranger Things, is an executive producer and director. Anu Menon, Amit Gupta, and Hiromi Kamata also directed episodes.
The first season of the show launched on February 22, 2024, and immediately became popular worldwide. In its first 11 days, it was viewed 41.1 million times on Netflix, reaching the number one spot in 76 countries and the top 10 in 92. Due to this success, Netflix has ordered Seasons 2 and 3 to finish the story.
Producers Boylan and Raisani shared their excitement about reuniting with the cast for Season 2. They plan to delve into the characters’ evolving and complex relationships, and to present live-action versions of memorable scenes from the original story. The new season will also expand on storylines that weren’t fully explored in the animated version, and they’re eager to bring the whole group back together.
I’m so excited for the upcoming seasons! They’re adding some fantastic new faces to the cast. For Season 2, we’ll be seeing Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, Dolly de Leon playing Lo and Li, Lily Gao as Ursa, Madison Hu as Fei, and Dichen Lachman taking on the role of Yangchen. And looking ahead to Season 3, Jon Jon Briones is joining as Piandao, and the wonderful Tantoo Cardinal will be playing Hama. I can’t wait to see them all in action!
