Many popular animated movies, including most of the Shrek and Despicable Me franchises, will soon be removed from Netflix. This is happening just weeks after some of these films were added! Specifically, Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Puss in Boots will no longer be available to stream after November 1st, leaving only Shrek: Forever After on the platform.
The popular Despicable Me movies are also being taken off Netflix. Three of the films – Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions – will no longer be available starting October 31st. However, Despicable Me 3 and Despicable Me 4 will still be available to stream.
These movie series have been added to and removed from Netflix in the past, but losing so many at the same time is bound to disappoint viewers. It’s especially frustrating because several of the Shrek films were just added to the service recently, making their removal particularly noticeable.
It’s worth noting that the Shrek movies are being taken off both Netflix and Peacock on the same date. This suggests they might only be available to watch by buying or renting them for a while. As of now, it’s unknown which streaming service will offer them next, since most haven’t announced their November lineups yet.
This is disappointing for people who prefer to stream their favorite animated movies. Beloved series like Shrek and Despicable Me have been family favorites for years, and now viewers might have to buy the movies digitally or wait for them to appear on a different streaming service.
