With my years spent poring over every detail of Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece, it’s hard not to be thrilled at the prospect of seeing Mr. 0 and Miss All Sunday brought to life by Joe Manganiello and Lera Abova, respectively.
It was announced by Netflix that actors Joe Manganiello and Lera Abova have joined the cast for season two of the live-action adaptation of One Piece.
From my perspective as a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that according to The Hollywood Reporter, I, Joe Manganiello, am set to bring the enigmatic character of Mr. 0 to life on the big screen. Meanwhile, the captivating Miss All Sunday will be portrayed by none other than Abova. It’s an exciting time for cinema as we delve into these intriguing roles!
During the Geeked Week gathering in Atlanta, some new cast members were introduced, as well as the return of the character Chopper. Filming for the second season has been underway in Cape Town, South Africa, since June 2024.
In a world brimming with mystery and wonder, the adventurous pirate group led by Monkey D. Luffy embarks on a quest across vast seas and captivating islands, seeking the greatest treasure known to man in their pursuit of becoming the new Pirate King.
In the lineup for the upcoming series, we have Charithra Chandran, Katey Sagal, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Mark Harelik, Brendan Sean Murray, Camrus Johnson, Clive Russell, Callum Kerr, Daniel Lasker, Ty Keogh, David Dastmalchian, Jazzara Jaslyn, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, and Werner Coetser, joining the previously announced cast. Additionally, Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Jeff Ward, and Michael Dorman are also returning original cast members.
In 1997, Eiichiro Oda penned the renowned manga series, One Piece, which stands as the best-selling manga ever published. The narrative revolves around Monkey D. Luffy (Godoy), a determined character with aspirations to rule the high seas as the pirate king. Accompanied by numerous dangers, he amasses an eclectic crew, searches for a suitable ship, and traverses treacherous waters while evading the Marines and rival pirates in pursuit of his goal.
Over the past week, I’ve been absolutely thrilled to see that One Piece has taken over the Netflix top 10 most-watched shows! It held the number one spot in an astounding 46 countries and remained a top contender in a whopping 93 nations. In its first week alone, it captivated viewers for a staggering 140 million hours!
The show is overseen by Matt Owens and Joe Tracz as both co-creators and top producers, along with additional executive producers such as Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements from Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, and Steven Maeda.
