Netflix is reportedly working on a new animated series featuring Crash Bandicoot, the popular and energetic character who first appeared in video games on PlayStation in 1996. According to What’s on Netflix, the project is currently in early development.
According to the report, WildBrain is producing the new show. They’ve collaborated with Netflix on other animated series like Sonic Prime, Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and Carmen Sandiego. Currently, WildBrain is also creating an animated Minecraft series for Netflix.
Details about the upcoming Crash Bandicoot series are still limited. It’s currently unknown whether the show will retell the story of the games or present a brand new narrative, as reported by What’s on Netflix.
Crash Bandicoot originally starred in a popular game for the PlayStation, developed by Naughty Dog – the creators of The Last of Us.
I remember when Crash Bandicoot first came out – it was a PlayStation exclusive, and I loved it! After Crash: Mind Over Mutant in 2008, though, things went pretty quiet for a long time. I was so excited when, in 2017, they released Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. It was a fantastic remaster that really brought Crash back into the spotlight and introduced him to a whole new generation of players.
In 2020, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time came out to positive reviews. Despite this, it didn’t sell as well as Activision hoped, and plans for a fifth game, Crash 5, were scrapped. Since then, fans have only received a game for mobile devices and the multiplayer title Crash Team Rumble.
Crash Bandicoot has actually appeared on Netflix before. He was featured in a few episodes of Skylanders Academy, an animated series that included characters from various Activision games.
If approved, this new show will be another video game adaptation on Netflix, joining existing series based on games like Horizon and Assassin’s Creed.
Crash Bandicoot fans will have to be patient to find out if the popular character will return in a new game.
