Here at TopMob, we’re excited about the potential live-action Mobile Suit Gundam movie. Our parent company, Legendary Pictures, is behind huge franchises like the Monsterverse and Dune, and they’re also making the upcoming Street Fighter movie – all things fans like us are really into! A Gundam movie – giant robots battling for the future – has been in the works for years, and now it looks like it’s finally happening, with Netflix likely to be the distributor.
I’m so excited to hear that the Gundam movie has found a home with the biggest streamer around! I’ve been following this project for a while, and I’m thrilled to see it finally coming together. It’s going to star Noah Centineo and Sydney Sweeney, which is amazing casting, and Jim Mickle, who did Sweet Tooth, is directing. Originally, Netflix was going to co-produce with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, but things shifted. While they stepped back from development, leaving it to Legendary and Bandai Namco, they’re still going to distribute it, which means it will be easily accessible to fans like me! It’s been a long time coming, since 2021, but I’m so glad it’s happening.
I’m so excited to hear that Mickle is writing the script for the new movie! Details about the story are still a secret, which is killing me, but I trust him completely. He’s going to produce it with Linda Moran, and that’s awesome. Plus, Centineo is getting in on the producing side with his partner Enzo Marc – it’s great to see everyone involved who really cares about this project!
Bandai Namco has been closely involved with Gundam since almost the beginning, starting in 1980. Given their dedication, fans can expect this live-action Gundam movie to deliver on their hopes. Bandai Namco is partnering with Legendary, a studio known for successfully adapting popular franchises like Dune and creating the Monsterverse. This collaboration promises to build on Gundam’s rich history and take the series to exciting new levels.
