Netflix Is Losing Its Greatest Comedy Series 2026 — Watch It Before It’s Gone

In 2026, Netflix will no longer have the popular comedy series Arrested Development. The show, which originally aired on Fox and follows the quirky Bluth family, will be removed from the streaming platform on March 15th. While Netflix hasn’t given an official reason, it’s probably due to the expiration of their contract to show the series.

Created by Mitchell Hurwitz, the show centers on the Bluths, a formerly rich family who suddenly find themselves struggling financially. It’s famous for its smart writing, recurring jokes, and distinctive visual style—think shaky camera work, narration, and the use of old photos and videos. Ron Howard was an executive producer and the show’s narrator, and he even appeared as himself in later seasons.

The show Arrested Development was a huge success with critics, winning six Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe. It quickly gained a dedicated fanbase and is now considered by many to be one of the greatest TV comedies of all time. It also paved the way for other popular shows like 30 Rock and Community.

You know, it’s funny – this show actually didn’t do so well when it first aired on Fox, despite getting good reviews. They ended up canceling it in 2006. But thankfully, Netflix saw its potential and brought it back in 2011, creating new episodes just for streaming. I was so relieved they did!

Season five was released in two parts, first in 2018 and then in 2019. Originally, the show was scheduled to be removed from Netflix in 2023, but a new agreement secured its continued availability on the platform.

If you love Arrested Development, now’s the time to rewatch it! The show is still one of the most clever and hilarious comedies ever made, and it might not be available forever.
