Netflix Drops the Full Cast for Its New Live-Action ‘Scooby-Doo’ Series

Netflix has announced the cast for its new live-action “Scooby-Doo” series, offering fans a modern take on the beloved Mystery Inc. gang. Entertainment Tonight and other media sources reported on the exciting news.

The upcoming show will star Mckenna Grace as Daphne, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred, and Tanner Hagen as Shaggy. These young actors are taking on the iconic characters, bringing a fresh take to the classic roles.

Mckenna Grace is quickly becoming a familiar face in Hollywood. You might have seen her in recent films like “Scream 7” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” and she’ll be in the new “Hunger Games” prequel, “Sunrise on the Reaping.” She also starred in “Gifted” and the more recent “Ghostbusters” movies.

Abby Ryder Fortson became well-known for starring in the 2023 film “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.” She previously played Cassie Lang in the first two “Ant-Man” movies, but the part was later given to another actress.

Maxwell Jenkins is no stranger to screen acting, having previously worked on shows like “Lost in Space” and “Sense8,” as well as the movie “Arcadian.” Tanner Hagen is a newer face, with a role in the first season of “The Pitt.”

I’m so excited for this new series! It’s going to show us how the Mystery Inc. gang really first met, a totally fresh take on their origin story. Apparently, it all starts during their last summer at camp, and it’s sparked by a really weird mystery – Shaggy and Daphne stumble onto something strange involving a lost Great Dane puppy. It sounds like a fun, modern twist on the classic story!

Shaggy and Daphne are back for one last summer at camp, and they stumble into a spooky mystery. It involves a lost Great Dane puppy who might have seen something supernatural – a murder, perhaps.

Velma and Fred soon team up with the others to investigate the mystery, which quickly becomes more dangerous and starts to impact their lives personally. The story describes how, with the help of Velma, a practical and intelligent local, and Fred, a new and intriguing student, they begin to unravel a case that’s drawing them into a frightening situation and risking the exposure of their hidden secrets.

Greg Berlanti, the producer behind shows like “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” is also producing this show.

This project is a big deal because it’s the first-ever live-action “Scooby-Doo” TV series. While Scooby and the gang have appeared in animated shows and movies – starting with the classic “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” and continuing with newer versions – they were previously brought to the big screen in live-action films in the early 2000s.

Netflix is hoping to attract new viewers with a fresh cast and storyline, while still honoring what made the original series so beloved.
