Netflix Drops Passionate First Look at New ‘Pride and Prejudice’ Series

Netflix has shared a first look at its new limited series based on Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride and Prejudice. The series promises a lot of romance and emotional moments. A short teaser released on Tuesday shows the developing tension between Elizabeth Bennet, played by Emma Corrin, and Mr. Darcy, played by Jack Lowden.

The brief video shows Elizabeth on a rooftop as the sun rises, seemingly thinking about Mr. Darcy. It quickly cuts between short scenes of them together – like moments shared in a carriage and a close moment on the dance floor.

A brief touch of hands over flowers and a stone subtly references a memorable scene from the 2005 movie. The trailer concludes with a dramatic image of Darcy riding a horse, suggesting a grand and passionate love story. Netflix has stated the series will launch in fall 2026, but the specific release date is still to be determined.

I’m really excited about this new series! It’s a six-part adaptation of the classic Austen novel, and from what I’ve heard, it stays very true to the book. The writer, Dolly Alderton – I loved her work on Everything I Know About Love – and the director, Euros Lyn, who did Heartstopper, are both fantastic. What’s even cooler is that they’re all involved as executive producers, along with a great team from Lookout Point – Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter – and Lisa Osborne is producing too. It sounds like it’s in really good hands!

Alderton expressed her excitement about the project, saying it’s a rare opportunity to revisit a classic story. She feels fortunate to be involved in bringing Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ – a foundational work for romantic comedies – to a new audience. She enjoyed rediscovering both well-known and innovative ways to adapt the beloved novel, and with Euros Lyn directing a talented cast, she’s eager to share these funny and complex characters with both longtime fans and newcomers.

The show stars Corrin and Lowden, and also features a talented group of actors including Olivia Colman, Rufus Sewell, Freya Mavor, Jamie Demetriou, Daryl McCormack, Louis Partridge, Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Hopey Parish, and Hollie Avery.
