Netflix revealed that a new documentary about the creation of the final season of Stranger Things will be released on January 12th. The documentary, called One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, offers a behind-the-scenes look at the show’s production.
Netflix says the documentary gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the work and imagination that made the Duffer Brothers’ popular show a success.
Martina Radwan directed this film. She previously directed the 2023 documentary Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Tomorrow and also served as a cinematographer on the Emmy Award-winning Girls State.
I was so touched by what Radwan shared about her time with the ‘Stranger Things’ team! She said she’s incredibly thankful to the Duffer Brothers for letting her be a part of the show’s magic, and that spending a year on set with them was a real honor and a lot of fun. What really struck me was how welcoming the cast and crew were – she said they really included her and shared stories from the entire decade they’ve been making the series. It sounds like an amazing experience!

The latest trailer offers a sneak peek at the show’s final moments. It begins with the last table read, where Ross Duffer shared how difficult it was to write the characters’ final lines. Matt Duffer recalls the powerful feeling of typing ‘End Series,’ a moment that visibly moved Noah Schnapp and Millie Bobby Brown.
The trailer really pulled at my heartstrings! They showed some adorable early photos of the young cast, and the use of David Bowie’s Heroes – a song they used a lot in the show – was perfect. We even get a peek behind the scenes, hearing the cast and crew talk about what happens with Eleven. Millie Bobby Brown’s voiceover, saying “I’m not ready to let go,” was especially emotional. It all wraps up with Ross Duffer announcing “And that is a wrap on ‘Stranger Things’” on the last day of filming, with confetti falling everywhere – it was a beautiful moment, honestly.
The creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, were inspired by documentaries made about The Lord of the Rings and wanted to create something similar for their own series. They explained that with fewer physical DVDs and Blu-rays being released, this type of behind-the-scenes content is becoming rare, and they hoped to revive it.
The behind-the-scenes documentary One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 was produced by MakeMake, with Angus Wall, Terry Leonard, and Kent Kubena leading the production.
