Netflix and A24 are joining forces to create a reality show inspired by the popular video game Overcooked. The show promises to capture the game’s frantic, fast-paced energy and kitchen-based challenges, according to Deadline.
This new project takes inspiration from fun, family-friendly shows like Nailed It! and Floor Is Lava, but adds the fast-paced, chaotic energy of the game Overcooked. Teams will compete in wild cooking challenges, racing to prepare and serve dishes amidst unexpected problems and complete kitchen chaos.
Though still in the initial stages of production, the series is attracting significant talent. The team behind the popular game Overcooked – Gemma Langford, Oli De-Vine, and Phil Duncan from Ghost Town Games – are executive producers, alongside A24, which is venturing into reality competition television for the first time.
The original game puts you in the shoes of a chef battling the clock to cook and serve dishes in dangerous kitchens filled with moving parts and explosions. The TV show aims to capture that same fast-paced, chaotic, and entertaining experience, emphasizing the importance of teamwork, precise timing, and thinking on your feet.
According to Deadline, the Overcooked live-action show is still in development, but fans are already excited about the potential for funny and chaotic scenes based on the game’s kitchen challenges.
