Netflix announced that a second season of its popular young adult drama, Finding Her Edge, is in the works. The series, which is based on Jennifer Iacopelli’s book, has quickly gained fans around the world, according to Deadline.
The Canadian series launched on January 22nd and has remained a consistent hit on Netflix, staying in the top 10 English TV shows ever since. Currently, it’s number 10 in the U.S. and has achieved top 10 status in 81 countries, with over 12 million views.
Finding Her Edge tells the story of the Russo sisters, who are trying to keep their family’s figure skating business afloat. Seventeen-year-old Adriana is working hard to compete in the World Championships with her current partner, Brayden, but she still has romantic feelings for her ex-boyfriend and former skating partner, Freddie.
Adriana and Brayden fake a relationship to get a sponsor and keep their family’s ice rink from closing, but their plan quickly becomes complicated.
Jeff Norton, the showrunner, shared that he created the series to explore love, focusing on characters facing challenges in their personal lives and athletic careers. He’s thrilled to continue their stories in Season 2 with the backing of Netflix and WildBrain, and praised the talented cast. He promises viewers will enjoy seeing the show’s two central love triangles – both romantic and familial – unfold further, with plenty of exciting drama happening both during competitions and behind the scenes.
Author Jennifer Iacopelli expressed her joy at the positive response to “Finding Her Edge” from viewers worldwide. She said seeing her book adapted and characters come to life was a dream, and she’s thrilled to continue the story with a second season. Iacopelli is eager for audiences to discover what happens next for Adriana, Brayden, Freddie, and the rest of Team Russo.
Madelyn Keys plays the lead role of Adriana. The cast also includes Cale Ambrozic, Olly Atkins, Alexandra Beaton, Alice Malakhov, Niko Ceci, Millie Davis, and Harmon Walsh. The show is executive produced by Norton, along with Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, and Angela Boudreault from WildBrain. Shamim Sarif and Jacqueline Pepall directed the series, with Shelley Scarrow as head writer, and Norton, Pepall, and Sabrina Sherif also contributing to the writing.
Because the show has already proven popular with fans, the next season promises lots of exciting drama and romantic storylines.
