Netflix Confirms Multiple Hit TV Shows Won’t Be Back Until 2027

Viewers of popular Netflix shows might be waiting a long time for new seasons. Recent reports indicate that some series won’t be back until 2027, despite it only being the beginning of 2026.

On Wednesday, Netflix announced what viewers can expect in 2026, including many new and returning shows. However, a few popular titles weren’t included in the announcement.

Currently, shows like Wednesday, Ginny & Georgia, Ransom Canyon, Untamed, and Forever aren’t on the schedule. While a couple might be added later this year, most of these series won’t be back until next year.

Netflix has ordered a third season of ‘Wednesday,’ the popular show starring Jenna Ortega, since July – even before season two premiered. But don’t expect it to arrive quickly. Because the show is complicated to make, filming takes a while. They’ve started casting for the new season, with Eva Green joining the cast, and are reportedly planning to begin production in February, with a target release date sometime in 2027.

Like some other Netflix shows, “Ginny & Georgia” releases new seasons about two years apart. Netflix ordered seasons three and four in 2023. Season three began filming last autumn and is still being filmed as of February. Because of this, the fourth season likely won’t be available until 2027 at the earliest.

Other television series are also experiencing production setbacks. For example, “Ransom Canyon,” a Western romance adapted from Jodi Thomas’s novels and featuring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, received a renewal for a second season in June 2025.

Filming for the new season is almost finished and is expected to launch in early 2027. “Forever,” based on Judy Blume’s popular novel and starring Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr., is currently being filmed. While an exact release date hasn’t been set, it’s anticipated to be sometime in 2027.

The crime series starring Eric Bana launched in 2025 and, due to its popularity, has been picked up for another season. Filming for the second season will begin later this year, with an expected release in early 2027. Meanwhile, the superhero crime drama Supacell, which first aired in June 2024, experienced delays when one of its actors, Ghetts, had to leave. Originally intended for release in early 2025, the second season is now slated for October 2025, but a firm release date hasn’t been announced yet.

The thriller series Dept. Q, featuring Matthew Goode, has been picked up for a second season. It’s currently being filmed and is expected to premiere in early 2027, although it could arrive sooner.

Several shows initially expected in 2026 aren’t currently on Netflix’s schedule, including the Canadian series Bet, the British-Canadian teen show Geek Girl, and the last season of Heartbreak High. Unfortunately, there are no set release dates for these shows yet, so fans will have to be patient.
