Netflix Cancels Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ‘Fubar’ After Two Seasons

Netflix has formally ended production on the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring spy comedy, “Fubar,” following its completion of two seasons. This decision was made approximately two months after the release of the second season on June 12th.

Initially, the show Fubar made a powerful start in 2023, thanks to Schwarzenegger’s fame and its impressive debut as the number one streaming choice with more than 1.5 billion viewer minutes. However, season 2 experienced a significant drop in popularity.

Based on reports, there was a significant decrease of 73% in viewership hours from season one to season two. This season’s premiere week attracted just 412 million viewing minutes, whereas the initial season had 1.53 billion.

Season 2 Struggled to Find an Audience

Although Netflix usually renews many shows in 2025, like Virgin River and Tires, Fubar failed to gain much attention. Season 2 didn’t make a significant impact when it was released, only managing to reach the #10 spot on Netflix’s English-language Top 10 with 2.2 million views. It peaked at #7 the following week with 3.3 million views but soon vanished from the rankings.

2025 saw Fubar join a group of Netflix shows, including The Recruit, Pulse, and The Residence, that were also not renewed for further seasons due to underwhelming viewership.

About the Series

In the series known as “Fubar”, Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Luke Brunner, a CIA operative who was about to retire but had to return to work when he found out his daughter, Monica Barbaro, was also a spy. The second season introduces Carrie-Anne Moss as Greta Nelso, a former East German agent and past love interest of Brunner.

A diverse group of actors, including Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson, made up the main cast.

Nick Santora functioned both as the showrunner and executive producer, working alongside Schwarzenegger. Other executive producers involved were Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen, as well as David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell from Skydance.

What’s Next for Schwarzenegger?

It appears that “Fubar” is no longer on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s list of upcoming projects, as per his IMDb page, but he still has other projects in the pipeline.

More recently, he starred as Agent State Farm in a brief advertisement called “State Farm: Like A Good Neighbor” that was released in 2024.

In “The Man with the Bag,” which is scheduled to be released in 2025, he takes on the role of Santa Claus alongside actors Alan Ritchson and Awkwafina during filming that is still in post-production.

In the clandestine footage of what seems to be Kung Fury 2, he makes an appearance as the character known as The President. The film, though finished, could potentially be released or remain unpublished.

In Breakout, now in pre-production, he plays Terry Reynolds in a prison escape thriller.

Apart from that, he’s linked to two upcoming television programs as well:

1. “Outrider“, which is a Western production, with whispers suggesting he may portray a U.S. Marshal.
2. The sports show titled “Manningcast“, which is still in the early stages of creation.

His long-gestating The Legend of Conan remains in limbo with no recent updates.
