Netflix Axes 4 Shows in Record Time — And More Could Be Coming

In an unexpected turn of events, Netflix has shocked its audience by terminating four popular series, among them being one that garnered massive viewership yet was abruptly ended following a single season.

The popular and heartwarming makeover series called Queer Eye is coming to an end after its upcoming tenth season, which is currently being filmed in Washington, D.C. On July 9th, Netflix shared the news on Instagram with the caption, “10 seasons, Fab Five, one last hurrah.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my feelings as we embark on the last season of this extraordinary series. One of the Fab Five, Tan France, shared his reflections on Instagram about this bittersweet moment. “Beginning the FINAL season of Queer Eye,” he penned, “It’s been a lengthy, beautiful journey we’ve traversed, and I am deeply grateful for all the love and backing our small show has received. It has transformed my life in ways I never imagined possible.

Supporters are feeling sad but can’t wait to see how the last season honors the program’s tradition of sharing love and optimism. Unfortunately, The Residence, a murder mystery series featuring Uzo Aduba, is also not coming back for another round. Despite receiving positive feedback, Deadline shares that it won’t be renewed for a second season.

The primary issues? Exorbitant production fees and an inability to create a significant cultural impact. Despite boasting a high-profile cast, which increased costs, the series failed to resonate with viewers or generate the buzz Netflix anticipated. Fans who appreciated the show’s captivating storyline are disheartened because it seemed promising for further mystery revelations.

Netflix’s initial attempt at a medical procedural drama, titled “Pulse,” was canceled after just one season despite garnering an impressive 20.2 million views and logging 162.1 million viewing hours within the first month. The series focused on a captivating medical narrative but struggled against stiff competition in the densely populated medical drama genre. Ultimately, its overall viewership fell short of expectations, leading to its termination.

Fans of Pulse are disheartened because they believed it had the potential to become a smash hit with further development, given its powerful start. On the other hand, the fate of No Good Deed is unclear. While there’s no immediate plan for another season, it hasn’t been outright canceled either; instead, it’s in an open-ended break, leaving fans uncertain about its future.

The show, initially showing great potential, could potentially make a comeback, but Netflix isn’t guaranteeing anything about it. These cancellations have ignited much discussion among fans, particularly on social media platforms, where they are expressing their sorrow over the end of their beloved shows. Although Queer Eye will receive a fitting farewell, the sudden terminations of The Residence and Pulse, coupled with the ambiguity surrounding No Good Deed, have left fans hoping Netflix reconsiders or introduces new series to replace them. For now, viewers can only anticipate what future content Netflix might offer.
