Netflix has shared posters and the official release date of Monster: The Ed Gein Story.

The forthcoming season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s anthology series features Charlie Hunnam portraying the notorious serial killer Ed Gein, also known as “Monster: The Ed Gein Story.” This chilling series delves into the life of an ordinary man from Plainfield, Wisconsin who transformed into history’s most unique monster. It will unveil to audiences the most appalling truth – that monsters are not naturally born but rather created by humanity themselves.

Alongside Hunnam, the cast also includes Suzanna Son, Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Joey Pollari, Tyler Jacob Moore, Charlie Hall, Will Brill, Mimi Kennedy, Robin Weigert, and Lesley Manville.

In a small town in Wisconsin called Plainfield during the late 1940s to late 1950s, the solitary Ed Gein was responsible for a series of horrific and brutal crimes. Often referred to as the “Butcher of Plainfield,” he was convicted for murdering two women but is believed to have been involved in seven more. His twisted actions included disturbing graves from local cemeteries and mutilating bodies to create personal keepsakes. The macabre nature of his crimes and his fixation on his mother became the basis for some iconic horror movies like Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
