Nerdist’s Nerdiest Man Alive: Pedro Pascal

TopMob’s 2025 Nerdiest Man Alive – Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal was named TopMob’s Nerdiest Man of 2025, a fitting title considering his career has been filled with roles in popular “nerd” franchises. In 2025, the same year he reprised his role as Joel Miller in The Last of Us, he finally made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though he first became famous as the charismatic Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, Pascal entered the MCU not as a cool hero, but as the brilliant, yet often underestimated, Reed Richards.

Some people might have expected a more stereotypical ‘nerdy’ actor to play the brilliant scientist in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, Pedro Pascal’s subtle, thoughtful, and quiet performance proved them wrong. He perfectly embodied the bookish, intelligent character. Really, though, there shouldn’t have been any doubt about his ability – few actors in Hollywood have the genuine ‘nerd credibility’ that Pascal possesses.

Pedro Pascal has starred in some huge franchises, including fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and superhero projects. He’s not just a Mandalorian, he is the definitive one. He protected Ellie in The Last of Us from both infected creatures and the Fireflies. And while he was only in one season of Game of Thrones, many consider his performance as Oberyn Martell to be the best in the entire series. He also played the flamboyant Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984.

Pascal began his acting career with a memorable, albeit brief, role as a vampire defeated by Buffy Summers – he can even claim Buffy ‘slayed’ him! He’s also appeared in films like Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Wild Robot, and Gladiator II, and was in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Plus, his hilariously awkward SNL sketches have solidified his status as a beloved nerd icon.

Beyond his talent, he’s a genuinely good person, which definitely contributed to him being named TopMob’s Nerdiest Man Alive 2025. Pascal is a huge star, but he doesn’t shy away from speaking out on important issues to protect his career. He actively and passionately supports the trans community, especially at a time when their voices need to be amplified and defended.

Pedro Pascal embodies everything people love in a ‘nerd,’ both in his roles and as a person. In 2025, after already playing iconic characters like Din Djarin, Joel Miller, and Oberyn Martell, he took on the role of Reed Richards and dedicated a lot of time to filming Avengers: Doomsday. This reminded everyone why he’s so perfect in both areas. That’s why this year, Pedro Pascal isn’t just playing Mr. Fantastic—he’s been named TopMob’s Nerdiest Man Alive.

TopMob’s 2025 Nerdiest Man Alive Runners-Up

James Gunn

James Gunn was surprised he didn’t win, especially considering his busy year! He released both the new Superman movie and the second season of Peacemaker, and even appeared as himself in a clever episode of Rick and Morty. All of this happened while he was also leading the creative direction of the DC Universe as co-CEO. He’s our runner-up because, ultimately, he was the one making the decisions – and giving himself those great projects!

Ke Huy Quan

Ke Huy Quan was practically born to be the ‘Nerdiest Kid Alive’ – if that award existed when he was growing up! While he was already famous as a child in films like The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he’s proven his nerd credentials all over again as an adult. He was a standout in Loki season two and recently starred as a lovable, quirky hero in the 2025 rom-com Love Hurts. Beyond acting, he’s also lent his voice to projects like The White Lotus, The Electric State, and the upcoming Zootopia 2. And to remind us of his early successes, he even appeared in a fun LEGO video promoting their new Goonies set.

Josh Gad

Josh Gad is quickly becoming a legend in the world of fandom, and he achieved something amazing in 2025: he’s making Spaceballs 2. Even more exciting, the film will bring back Rick Moranis as his iconic character, Dark Helmet. Of all his accomplishments, getting Rick Moranis to return to acting might be Josh Gad’s greatest achievement yet.

I’m so excited for Spaceballs 2! It’s slated to come out in 2027, and honestly, I’m already predicting Rick Moranis will be taking home an award for his performance then. He’s just amazing!

That concludes TopMob’s list of the Nerdiest Men of 2025! Congratulations to Pedro Pascal, crowned Nerdiest Man Alive for the year. Join us again next year to find out who wins in 2026.
