‘Needed To Be Made’: Jude Law On Making Film About White Supremacist Group As The Order Gets 7-Minute Standing Ovation in Venice

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for both art and social relevance, I must admit that Jude Law’s performance in The Order at the Venice Film Festival left me thoroughly impressed. His portrayal of an FBI agent hunting down neo-Nazi terrorists is not only gripping but also timely, given our current global climate.

At the Venice Film Festival, Jude Law captivated spectators with his performance as an FBI agent pursuing neo-Nazi terrorists in Justin Kurzel’s film titled The Order. This action-drama, inspired by true events, garnered numerous awards for its cast, including a prolonged seven-minute standing ovation during the world premiere.

As reported by Variety, Law graced the red carpet at the Palazzo del Cinema in a sharp black suit. Once the film ended, he mingled with Kurzel, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, and other cast members, all of whom were praised warmly by the audience. The applause could have gone on longer if not for the team eventually departing, leaving the crowd still eager to clap more.

In 1983 Idaho, a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent is delving into a string of brutal bank heists and other criminal activities. His probe takes him to a band of homegrown terrorists with neo-Nazi inclinations. This radical faction, headed by Robert Jay Mathews (depicted by Hoult), are orchestrating a plan to launch a war against the U.S. government.

Earlier in the day, during a press conference, Law emphasized the significance of the film given the resurgence of far-right ideologies today. As reported by the outlet, Jude Law stated, “This work seems crucial to produce at this moment. It’s intriguing to discover something from the past that speaks to current times.”

In addition to the main cast members like Smollett, Alison Oliver, and others, this film is based on the 1989 non-fiction book The Silent Brotherhood written by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt.

In simpler terms, Justin Kurzel highlighted the relevance of the movie’s themes, pointing out similarities between the portrayed events and some incidents from more recent times. Specifically, he mentioned the appearance of nooses at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

Kurzel observed that the events depicted in the movie appear strikingly similar to the narrative presented in William Luther Pierce’s 1978 novel, The Turner Diaries. To him, ‘The Order’ symbolizes an exploration of the toxic anger and prejudice that preceded a fractured society, offering a chilling preview of a future “America divided,” serving as a stark warning of past events and potential future outcomes.

In December, the movie titled “The Order,” featuring Jude Law, is set for release in the United States by Vertical Entertainment. Globally, you’ll be able to watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
