As a supporter, I’m excited to share that I, Nabil Ayouch, am embarking on my first French-language project. This upcoming film is a gripping psychological thriller with a powerhouse cast, including the talented Virginie Efira and Maryam Touzani.
More recently, filmmaker Ayouch showcased his work titled “Everybody Loves Touda” at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Notably, this production was Morocco’s submission for the Oscars as well. Among his previous accomplishments are the critically-acclaimed “Casablanca Beats“, which was exhibited at Cannes in 2021, and “Much Loved“, a work that received considerable acclaim.
Ayouch’s upcoming project is slated to begin filming towards the end of this year, marking his initial collaboration with acclaimed French actress Virginie Efira. While specifics about the plot are under wraps, it’s been disclosed that Efira will portray a character who adopts a child in Morocco. The narrative is expected to delve into the complexities of adoption and the ethical quandaries experienced by a couple.
As a cinephile, I’m excited to share my thoughts on an upcoming film set against the vibrant backdrop of Morocco, although it was lens-captured in French. This cinematic journey will showcase the exceptional talent of Maryam Touzani, who graced the screen in director Nabil Ayouch’s previous work, “Razzia”.
Touzani is a name that resonates not only within Moroccan film circles but globally. Her directorial masterpiece, “The Blue Caftan”, premiered at Cannes in 2022 and has since been hailed as one of the most successful Moroccan films internationally.
Similar to his past productions, Ayouch’s latest movie will carry a feminist perspective and an engaging suspenseful theme, creating an intense and intellectually stimulating experience. He plans to create this film through his company Ali n’Productions, in partnership with Les Films du Nouveau Monde, and is actively seeking additional collaborators for the project.
