Mythic Quest Won’t Return for Another Season; Cast Grateful for Chance to Say ‘Goodbye’ Amid Cancellation

Following four hilarious and chaotic seasons at Mythic Quest‘s workplace, it’s been confirmed that the popular gaming comedy series will not be returning for another season on Apple TV+. This decision was made shortly after the Season 4 finale aired on March 26.

Because the Season 4 finale wasn’t initially planned as the final episode, the show’s makers – Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney – are making changes to the last installment to give fans a satisfying conclusion. The revised episode will be out next week.

Concluding a series is tough, but after an amazing four seasons, the makers of ‘Mythic Quest’ have decided it’s time to wrap up. In a touching message, they acknowledged their pride in the show and thanked the cast, crew, viewers, and Apple for their unwavering support. To make parting easier, with Apple’s approval, they’ve added a special touch to the final episode – a proper farewell instead of just ‘game over.’

Frankly, I wasn’t totally taken aback by the news of its cancellation. Don’t get me wrong, when it debuted in 2020, the series was a critical sensation. But Season 4 seemed to resonate less compared to the previous seasons.

This latest season brought back Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin as they tackled fresh obstacles in an ever-changing video game universe. They dealt with escalating egos, transforming friendships, and the pursuit of a healthier work-life equilibrium. Yet, it seemed that the audience wasn’t quite as enthralled as before.

Created collectively by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Ubisoft Film & Television, “Mythic Quest” was overseen in its production by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Michael Rotenberg, Nicholas Frenkel, David Hornsby, and Megan Ganz. This series later spawned a spin-off titled “Side Quest,” an anthology show delving into the diverse lives of employees, gamers, and enthusiasts influenced by the “Mythic Quest” universe.

Despite bidding adieu to Mythic Quest, the revised finale is set to provide a poignant conclusion. In their words, this closing chapter won’t simply be “game over” – it will serve as an emotional goodbye to the universe and characters they collectively crafted over time.
