In partnership, MyAnimeList (MAL) and Honeyfeed (HF) are thrilled to launch the “MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 – NOVELOUS Worlds.” The goal of this collaboration is to shine a light on skilled international web novel writers by publishing their stories on NOVELOUS, an innovative app for reading light novels that was introduced in January by the esteemed Japanese publisher, Shogakukan.
Fans of anime are encouraged to create compelling narratives based on two prompts: “Love Knows No Limits” and “The Present is the End.” These stories should revolve around themes of love and mortality, aiming to captivate and inspire fresh readers on the NOVELOUS platform with their page-turning content.
The NOVELOUS app aims to connect international readers with the cherished Japanese narrative style known as light novels.
In honor of its debut, NOVELOUS is collaborating with MyAnimeList and Honeyfeed to highlight new, gifted creators. The “MyAnimeList x Honeyfeed Writing Contest 2025 – NOVELOUS Worlds” invites authors globally to display their talent, offering a prospect for their works to be showcased on the app.
The contest challenges writers to craft compelling stories based on one of two prompts:
- “Love Transcends Boundaries:” Explore the power of love to overcome cultural barriers and obstacles, highlighting bonds that defy the odds.
- “The End is Now:” Dive into a world on the brink of destruction, where humanity has only one year left—how will people respond to the ultimate countdown?
How it works:
From February 11, 2025, through May 7, 2025, submissions for aspiring writers will be accepted on Honeyfeed, a platform. After the submission phase ends, a group of judges will choose finalists, and from June 23 to July 24, 2025, fans worldwide can vote on NOVELOUS. The winning stories will be announced on August 4, 2025.
Prizes:The contest offers monetary rewards for outstanding entries:
- Most Voted “Love Transcends Boundaries” Entry: US$3,000
- Most Voted “The End is Now” Entry: US$3,000
- Judges’ Choice Award: US$3,000
