However, when Elliott’s older self starts providing warnings to her younger self, it becomes apparent that Elliott must reevaluate everything about her family, life, and relationships. This year, the movie had its premiere at Sundance to rave critiques. It offers a unique perspective on the maturing process in cinema, as demonstrated by the initial meeting and subsequent kiss between Elliott’s younger and older selves, followed by numerous phone conversations.

This is a theme that film director Meghan Park beautifully portrayed in her debut film, “The Fallout,” released in 2021. In this powerful production, Jenna Ortega plays a school girl who endures the trauma of witnessing a fatal shooting at her school. The director shared with NBC News that while it wasn’t planned intentionally, both of her projects have a common focus on this particular theme.
