The last season of My Hero Academia will be shorter than most fans anticipated. The official website has announced it will be released in just two parts in Japan, meaning it will only have around 11 or 12 episodes – a single ‘cour’ in anime terms.
The popular show will conclude after the Fall 2025 season finishes airing.
Past seasons were often divided into multiple parts and aired over several months, but the final season will be more fast-paced and contained.
The official DVD or Blu-ray releases don’t state the total number of episodes, so it’s still a bit unclear how long the series is.
Season eight of My Hero Academia, also known as the ‘Final Season,’ is created by Bones Film and directed by Kenji Nagasaki, with Naomi Nakayama co-directing. This season adapts material from chapters 399 to 431 of the original manga by Kōhei Horikoshi, specifically covering volumes 40 through 42.
In July, Horikoshi announced he’d be very involved in the project, creating original scenes not found in the original manga.

The new season began on October 4th, continuing the story right after the last one ended. It focuses on the final showdowns between the heroes and villains, like the fights between Izuku Midoriya and Tomura Shigaraki, and All Might versus All For One.
As the world hangs in the balance, both sides fight with everything they have. The story also looks ahead to what the future holds for heroes and how the characters’ lives will change.
Fans outside of Asia will be able to stream the series on Crunchyroll. In the Asia-Pacific region, Medialink has the rights to stream it. The opening theme song is “The Revo” by Porno Graffitti, the same band that performed “The Day” for the first season. The ending theme is “I” by Bump of Chicken.
Fans have mixed feelings about the final season being shorter than anticipated. Although it will finally show the epic battles everyone is excited about, the story will reach its conclusion sooner than they expected.
