As a devoted fan with an unquenchable thirst for all things manga, I can wholeheartedly say that Kōhei Horikoshi’s masterpiece, My Hero Academia, has left an indelible mark on my heart and soul. Over the past decade, this series has transcended the pages of a comic book, expanding into light novels, spinoffs, anime series, video games, and films – quite literally taking over my life!
After approximately a decade, My Hero Academia by Kōhei Horikoshi concluded its run. Throughout these years, it branched out into light novels, spinoffs, an anime series, video games, and films. Despite a gradual decrease in popularity, the manga now ranks third on Shueisha’s Manga Plus Rankings, trailing behind Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man and Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen.
It’s surprising that My Hero Academia has surpassed series like Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, One Piece by Eiichiro Oda, Kaiju No. 8, Black Clover, and Kagurabachi in popularity. These rankings offer a glimpse into the overall popularity of the manga, but they shouldn’t be used as definitive measures. The significant Chapter #430 of My Hero Academia played a crucial role in setting it apart from others.
1. Typically, the top 3 positions were frequently occupied by Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, One Piece, and Boruto. However, with Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece nearing their final arcs, the rankings are likely to shift in the coming months. Despite some divided opinions about the finale of My Hero Academia, there’s no question about its popularity.
Title Recognition: Top Manga Award (April 2024 Update)
With Chapter #430, My Hero Academia ended on a full circle, with All Might once again coming in the clutch to save Deku (Izuku Midoriya). In the finale, we see that Deku has now quit his hero life and become a teacher at U.A. High School. The series was almost headed toward an ending which made fans believe that Deku opting for a peaceful life.
In the latest chapter, All Might makes an appearance and bestows another suit upon Deku. The story concludes with Deku donning his new attire, leaving many unanswered questions. Will Deku acquire a fresh Quirk? Will he resume hero duties again? Although there’s no official word about a sequel, it seems probable that a spinoff may be in the works.
As a lifestyle expert looking back, it’s been quite a journey for Deku fans like myself. It was a bit disheartening to witness Deku revert to an ordinary life after such a heroic past. Adding to the mix, the creator Kōhei Horikoshi didn’t provide us with the romantic closure we hoped for between Deku and Ochaco Uraraka. To make matters even more bittersweet, over the eight years since, all his classmates have moved on to become heroes – except Deku himself.
Given the high acclaim and fanbase the series enjoys, it’s just a question of when we’ll witness Izuku Midoriya in his new attire – his hero days could be returning soon. Maybe there’ll even be a sequel focusing on the upcoming generation of heroes. Keep an eye out for the latest news regarding My Hero Academia!
