As a seasoned lifestyle expert with a profound passion for manga and anime, I must say that the conclusion of My Hero Academia, penned by the remarkable Kōhei Horikoshi, has left me with mixed emotions. With over 100 million copies sold worldwide and an extensive franchise to its name, it’s safe to say that this series has captivated millions, including myself.
Following nearly a decade, the run of Kōhei Horikoshi’s “My Hero Academia” concluded, with sales exceeding 100 million copies globally. Alongside manga adaptations, television series, movies, and video games, this franchise has amassed an enormous fan base. Some within this fan community feel that Deku’s (Izuku Midoriya) legacy was not adequately portrayed in the story.
In Chapter #430, All Might comes full circle by assisting the protagonist who lacks a quirk. Although he may not possess a unique ability like others in the series, his actions are profoundly impactful. However, some fans argue that the finale didn’t adequately reflect Deku’s character development as they hoped.
Initially, viewers anticipated a romantic conclusion between Ochaco Uraraka and Izuku Midoriya. Instead, Deku acknowledges his admiration for her standing up for him throughout their years together. He expresses that she consistently inspires him daily. Additionally, the introduction of a time jump was another significant topic of conversation.
In Chapter #430, we find ourselves eight years into the future, with all students from Class 1-A having graduated and embarking on their careers as heroes. Instead of following this path himself, Deku chooses to join U.A. High School as a teacher, utilizing the remnants of One For All to aid others. While many fans anticipated Deku would carry on his heroic journey and hold onto One For All indefinitely, that is not the case here.
During the eight years, it appears that Deku maintains a consistent daily routine, but he can’t interact with his friends as much because they are now busy being heroes. Frequently throughout the series, these heroes lend a helping hand to Deku, an aspect of the storyline that some viewers found to be a potential flaw in the main character.
One possibility for rephrasing: It’s unclear what the implications of All Might giving his suit to Deku might be. As the series appears to be leading towards a deceptive conclusion, it remains to be seen if this gift will grant Deku new abilities or if he’ll return to teaching at U.A. High School. Could Deku’s new suit empower him in unexpected ways? Only time will tell.
In a somewhat melancholic yet hopeful finale, My Hero Academia leaves room for Deku to try heroism again. Given its widespread acclaim, it’s just a question of time before we see him back in action as a hero. The course of Deku’s heroic future depends entirely on the creative decisions of Kōhei Horikoshi. Keep an eye out for further developments in My Hero Academia!
