My Hero Academia Author Breaks Silence Over Story’s Ending Like THIS

As a dedicated fan with a heart full of nostalgia, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as My Hero Academia concludes its epic journey after ten years. The series has been like a trusted friend, always there to entertain, inspire, and evoke feelings that words often fail to express.

The widely acclaimed manga series “My Hero Academia,” published by Shonen Jump, has come to an end after 10 years and 430 chapters. This final chapter showcased Deku’s transformation into the world’s most renowned hero, and its creator, Kohei Horikoshi, expressed his joy upon wrapping up this incredible journey.

Horikoshi expressed his gratitude in his final author’s note, thanking readers for their support and acknowledging Shueisha for giving him the opportunity to create. Fans are still digesting the conclusion of the series. In simpler terms, he was joyful about being part of Jump, appreciates everyone who read his work, and thanks them immensely.

Horikoshi recently conversed with Oricon in Japan regarding the conclusion of My Hero Academia, confessing a sense of emptiness now that his project has concluded, as My Hero Academia has been an integral part of his life for ten years and significantly influenced the shonen genre. “I find myself surprisingly alone… I’ve been pondering, ‘At last, I’ve achieved my aim.’ In all honesty, I can’t quite grasp [the acclaim]… It’s not false modesty. I honestly wondered, ‘Why?’ Perhaps it’s because the series continued for such a long time.” (paraphrased)

In simpler terms, My Hero Academia – an incredibly popular anime series – is cherished by both viewers and its creators. The character Deku, who has left a lasting impression on Shonen Jump, now serves as a symbol for contemporary anime enthusiasts. As the story continues to unfold, we’re entering a new phase, and creator Horikoshi will no doubt be proud of the enduring impact he’s made.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Eiichiro Oda, the creative mind behind One Piece, has honored Horikoshi in the recently unveiled chapter of our beloved manga. In chapter 1122 of One Piece, we delve deeper into the “Egghead” arc, featuring an intricate drawing of Smoker, the White Hunter. The cover art itself is a refreshing reinterpretation of Horikoshi’s fan artwork of Smoker from One Piece Volume 77. This crossover between these two Shonen Jump series may leave fans in a state of pleasant surprise.

In April 3, 2015, One Piece’s Volume 77 hit the shelves. Inside this manga’s Q&A section, called SBS, Eiichiro Oda paid tribute to Horikoshi by dedicating a page that showcased his growth as a Japanese manga artist. You might remember Horikoshi from his fan art of Smoker in One Piece’s Volume 23, which was published ten years prior to Volume 77. At that time, Horikoshi was still a student, before he started working on My Hero Academia for Weekly Shonen Jump.

As a grateful admirer, I can share that Kohei Horikoshi once presented me with a student fan art illustration. Today, his professional journey as a manga artist is flourishing more vividly than ever right before our eyes!! Oda exclaimed. Not only that, but his work is now appearing alongside One Piece in the very pages of Jump. It’s absolutely thrilling! He shared this news with me personally at the Jump artists’ New Year’s party. I wish I had known earlier so I could have cheered him on enthusiastically from the start!! So, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi – it’s truly a sight to behold!!!

Gege Akutami, the mind behind “Jujutsu Kaisen,” recently acknowledged the conclusion of “My Hero Academia” in a heartfelt message, expressing that his own work wouldn’t have been possible without Horikoshi’s creation. In his post, he said, “Without ‘My Hero Academia,’ there would be no ‘Jujutsu Kaisen.’ Congratulations.” It’s clear that the creator is not the only one expressing gratitude. “My Hero Academia” has paved the way for many Shonen Jump creators, and Horikoshi’s work has undoubtedly inspired a new wave of artists.
