My Dress-Up Darling Confirms Live-Action Series with First Look

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for entertainment trends and a passion for all things manga and anime, I must say that I am thoroughly enthused about the upcoming live-action TV drama of “My Dress-Up Darling.” With its charming characters, heartwarming storyline, and the undeniable charm of Japanese culture, this series has already captured millions of hearts in its manga and anime form.

The popular anime “My Dress-Up Darling” is transitioning into a live-action TV show, airing during the drama hour on MBS and TBS. Kota Nomura, at 20 years old, will portray Wakana Gojo, while Riko Nagase, aged 22, takes on the role of Marin Kitagawa. Notably, this is Kota Nomura’s debut as a main character in a terrestrial drama series.

The live-action adaptation of My Dress-Up Darling television series will debut in Japan on October 8, 2024. In honor of this announcement, the official account of the network broadcasting the show posted a photo featuring the two main characters. Furthermore, both actors’ official statements expressing their enthusiasm to participate were revealed on the series’ website.

Koji Shintoku is set to oversee the television series, while Satoko Okazaki will craft the scripts. Notably, Shintoku has contributed to projects such as Peach Girl, Honey So Sweet, and Honey Lemon Soda in the past. On the other hand, Okazaki has experience with live-action adaptations, specifically with Waiting for Spring. Kyōdō Television is slated to be the production company behind this live-action series.

“The live-action adaptation of Dress-Up Darling comes from the manga series created by Shinichi Fukuda, both written and illustrated. It started being published in Young Gangan, Enix’s magazine, in January 2018. As of May 2024, it has sold over 11 million copies. An anime version debuted in January 2022, and a follow-up to the story has been confirmed.”

The main focus of the series is on Wakana Gojo and Marin Kitagawa. Gojo, who tends to be reserved and introverted, contrasts with Kitagawa, a well-liked classmate due to her beauty. One day, she discovers that Gojo has a knack for creating hina dolls and motivates him to design costumes for cosplay based on these dolls, which she appreciates.

Thanks to Marin’s inspiring words, he eventually gathers courage and leaves his safe space, growing more self-assured. As they bond, Gojo remains oblivious to Kitagawa’s blossoming feelings towards him. Given the series’ widespread acclaim, fans express their eagerness on platform X for the upcoming live-action adaptation. Keep an eye out for fresh news about My Dress-up Darling!
