MUFASA: THE LION KING Trailer Tells the Tale of Mufasa and Scar as Brothers

As a gamer with a soft spot for Disney classics and a deep affection for “The Lion King”, I must say that the upcoming movie, “Mufasa: The Lion King”, has me absolutely roaring with excitement! Being a child of the ’90s, I remember the original film fondly, and its sequel held a special place in my heart as well. So, to see the story unfold from Mufasa’s perspective is like striking gold in a game of hide-and-seek (which, let’s be honest, is still the best game ever).

As a die-hard fan, I’d say that “Mufasa: The Lion King” seems like a wonderful mix of a prequel and an extension of “The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.” In this upcoming movie, we’ll get to revisit the story from Kiara’s perspective, a character we know from “The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride,” but with a focus on her grandfather Mufasa. Rafiki will be guiding young Kiara through tales of her grandpa’s heroic deeds and thrilling escapades.

Alongside the recently released trailer, we now have a clearer understanding of the plot for the upcoming prequel “Mufasa: The Lion King,” as the synopsis provides additional details. Here’s a summary of what it reveals.

Mufasa asks Rafiki to share the tale of his past with Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter, while Timon and Pumbaa add their unique humor. The story unfolds through flashbacks, showing Mufasa as a lost cub who was rescued by Taka, a kind lion from a royal lineage. This encounter kick-starts an epic adventure for a diverse band of outcasts, whose friendship will be put to the test as they join forces to outmaneuver a dangerous and ruthless enemy.

In this film, Aaron Pierre portrays Mufasa, Donald Glover plays Simba, John Kani is Rafiki, Seth Rogen brings Pumbaa to life, Billy Eichner voices Timon, Blue Ivy Carter takes on the role of Kiara, and Beyoncé reprises her role as Queen Nala. In addition, numerous other prominent actors are involved in the Mufasa movie, including Mads Mikkelsen who portrays the fierce lion character, Kiros.

Mufasa: The Lion King will release in theaters on December 20.
