MrBeast Shocks Fans, Calls Taking Photos with Fans a ‘Death Sentence’

Being in public isn’t simple for Jimmy Donaldson, who’s famous as MrBeast. He recently explained on the Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast why he has to manage every encounter with fans, particularly when taking pictures. MrBeast says allowing a fan to hold the phone for a photo often leads to problems.

Look, as a movie fan, nothing ruins a fun outing faster than getting recognized and then having someone ask their mom for a photo too! Seriously, it’s like a signal to everyone around that ‘Hey, here’s someone famous!’ and suddenly you’re swarmed. It completely kills the vibe and makes it impossible to just enjoy yourself.

MrBeast, who has hundreds of millions of followers across his social media channels, explained that even a short delay when taking photos with fans can quickly create a large crowd. He said that when he stops for pictures in public, it immediately draws attention and people start lining up, because no one wants to miss out when they see others getting photos too. This can quickly become unmanageable.

He explained that this kind of attention can really hurt local businesses. He even said, “I was actually kicked out of a Walmart because of it.”

Donaldson emphasized that the rules for how fans interact aren’t meant to be unfriendly—they’re about keeping things safe and running smoothly. He stated, “We appreciate our fans and aren’t trying to be disrespectful—it’s simply a practical matter.” He explained that delays in following the rules can quickly lead to problems, and asked fans to trust his judgment even if they don’t fully understand the reasoning.

To handle large crowds, MrBeast (Donaldson) created a quick photo system. By taking the photos himself, he can snap pictures immediately and keep the line moving. He’s able to take between 2,000 and 4,000 photos each day using this approach. He explained that this makes a big difference, turning a simple interaction into a memorable experience for fans, rather than just an ordinary one.

MrBeast is the most popular individual creator on YouTube, famous for his over-the-top videos featuring big stunts, generous giveaways, and trending challenges. He initially gained attention with videos like counting to 100,000 and gifting money to online streamers. Now, his videos are like mini-TV shows, regularly attracting millions of viewers.

Jimmy Donaldson, known for his YouTube channel, has broadened his work into business and giving back. He created Feastables, a popular chocolate and snack company now sold in stores, and also started Beast Philanthropy, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting hunger and providing aid.

He uses this platform to support projects such as building wells in Africa, covering the cost of cataract surgeries, and delivering essential supplies to people in need. All the money earned goes directly back into the charity to help fund even more programs.

You know, even with all the incredible attention he’s getting, MrBeast – Donaldson – is really careful about his fans and making sure everyone stays safe, including himself and wherever they’re meeting. Honestly, he’s been pretty open about the fact that fan meetups aren’t always glamorous; they’re actually a huge undertaking that needs a lot of organization and control to pull off successfully.
