Most Anticipated 2025 Games: MLB The Show 25 welcomes new legends

Here comes a brand-new calendar year! This past week, I managed to fix my Xbox all by myself and felt quite accomplished when I wrote ‘2025’ on the repair receipt. App Trigger is offering sneak peeks at some of the video games we can’t wait to play this fresh year.

Spring training is just around the corner when pitchers and catchers gather, followed closely by the commencement of MLB The Show. According to Brian Mazique from Forbes Magazine, fans are expected to appreciate the updates and enhancements that have been prepared.

As a baseball enthusiast, I can’t help but notice a softening stance towards the steroid era legends. Was the use of performance-enhancing drugs against the rules according to baseball law? Absolutely. Were the extraordinary statistics produced during that period instrumental in keeping fans engaged and potentially saving the game? Without a doubt. The recent reappearances of Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa have been met with general acceptance from the fanbase.

In 2025, there are whispers that Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, Nomar Garciaparra, and Manny Ramirez will be hailed as baseball legends. However, there are murmurs about Barry Bonds, a name notorious from the steroid era. Recently, he’s been collaborating with Topps to create new baseball memorabilia, fueling further conjecture. Importantly, none of Mazique’s sources have verified Bonds’ participation in this event.

The fact that Bonds has been absent from professional baseball games dates back to a significant period. Even when EA Sports was producing baseball simulations, Bonds had his own likeness licensed. This separation was due to MLBPA agreements regarding video game appearances. In these games, Bonds would be replaced by the fictional character Jon Dowd, while Tecmo Bowl’s QB Bills took the field alongside other players.

I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be reviving the captivating narratives of the Negro Leagues once again! Among all sports games, their storylines are among the finest I’ve encountered, offering me valuable insights every year. Moreover, I always enjoy incorporating iconic figures such as Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, and other legendary players from these leagues into my annual lineup. It truly is a win-win situation!

In a significant shift, Diamond Dynasty – the team-based mode in The Show – is undergoing a major transformation. The idea of sets and seasons, which were intended to prevent the mode from becoming repetitive with everyone using the same few cards, is being phased out.

This change aims to introduce more variety and unpredictability into the gameplay experience.

However, those who couldn’t dedicate extensive daily hours found themselves facing a significant disadvantage in the game. Once they eventually obtained the coveted chase card, they usually had just a short period of about a month to use it before it rotated out.

In essence, reducing the size of the card pool tends to intensify the problem where everyone is using similar cards. Regardless of its size, any card pool will naturally have a select group of cards that are more powerful or advantageous. This is typically the choice for competitive players.
