Instead of focusing on the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow, let’s just consider the type of damage they cause when attacking a tabletop. Wizards of the Coast has recently introduced two new “Magic: The Gathering” Secret Lair releases inspired by “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
One of the most iconic comedies in cinematic history is making its way into the world ofMagic: The Gathering. Wizards of the Coast has announced the release of two special sets, dedicated to “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” These collections bring beloved quotes, scenes, characters, and locales from the film to life through unique artwork inspired by the movie. Given their exclusivity, these sets are anticipated to run out of stock quickly, making them coveted collectibles not just for Magic: The Gathering players, but for anyone with a fondness for this classic comedy.
To pay an appropriate tribute to the movie, Wizards of the Coast’s description for the Secret Lair drops is quite quirky and seemingly irrational.

Around five decades ago, King Arthur and his knights embarked on a sacred journey to retrieve the legendary Holy Grail. Although they haven’t found it yet, they shared their tales of adventure with us at Secret Lair. One of these tales became the hilarious Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie, which we highly recommend watching! Inspired by this classic story, we created two drops as a tribute: one drop features a double-sided Birds of Paradise, allowing you to choose between an African and European Swallow. Our extensive knowledge of swallows comes from being kings, after all!

As a seasoned collector of Monty Python memorabilia, I can confidently say that this drop contains cards of exceptional value and uniqueness. The volume prescribed is undeniably “two,” as anything less would refer to another drop entirely. The cards within are distinct from any other collection I have encountered, showcasing iconic scenes and quotable lines from the classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I find myself even more enthused when neither option is practical or beneficial, making these collections all the more intriguing instead.
As a long-time Magic: The Gathering fan and collector, I can tell you that getting my hands on the “Secret Lair x Monty Python and the Holy Grail Vol. 1 and Vol. 2” sets has been a real adventure. Luckily for us enthusiasts, Wizards of the Coast has given us clear instructions on how to obtain these coveted items.
