As a devoted fan of true crime narratives and gripping dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for Ryan Murphy’s latest offering – “MONSTERS: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story.” Having immersed myself in the Dahmer anthology, I eagerly anticipate this new installment that promises to delve into another chilling tale of deception and darkness.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that following the chilling success of Dahmer, Ryan Murphy – our go-to director for captivating narratives – introduces another intriguing chapter into his anthology series. This time, we delve into the dark tale of the Menendez brothers, who tragically took the lives of their parents, José and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez
In this production, Nicholas Alexander Chavez takes on the role of Lyle Menéndez, while Cooper Koch plays his brother Erik. Javier Bardem is cast as their wealthy father, José, who once held a position at Paramount Studios, and Chloë Sevigny portrays Louise “Kitty”
The video starts off showing Erik and him exiting a vehicle carrying two large rifles, then proceeding to enter their home – this is accompanied by gunfire noises and bright flashes. At some point, Koch remarks, “Since we murdered our parents together, I guess you could say we’re quite bonded.”
The family appeared flawlessly harmonious, but it hid a troubled core. The story unfolds around two privileged brothers who squandered their father’s wealth on extravagant living, yearning for something more from life. However, as the trailer progresses, it hints at darker secrets beneath the horrific murder that is yet to be fully unveiled
Nathan Lane’s character, Dominick Dunne, states, “You wouldn’t disfigure your parents like that. It’s not about financial gain,” in reference to the brothers’ court trials in court. While some suspected money as the motive, others felt it was a clever diversion from the real storyline
Erik and Lyle, who were given life sentences without the possibility of parole, argued that they had been subjected to physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by their parents. The second part of the Ryan Murphy anthology appears just as captivating as the critically praised show about Dahmer. (Paraphrased)
Although the show had a gritty script, it managed to secure 13 Emmy nominations, with Niecy Nash-Betts, who played Dahmer’s inquisitive neighbor Glenda Cleveland, winning in the outstanding supporting actress category
MONSTERS: The Lyle And Erik Menendez Story will be released on September 9, on Netflix.
