Monster Hunter Wilds Research Report Questline Guide

In our “Monster Hunter Wilds” Research Report Guide, we’ll walk you through the locations where you can discover each of the Endemic Life species that the two researchers ask you to find.

Where to Find Endemic Life

Tracktail Lizard

Tracktail Lizards are typically discovered within the arid regions of the Windward Plains. Consequently, it’s likely that you’ll come across these lizards in locations such as Areas 11 and 13. Our team actually spotted a group shortly after entering the desert following Area 12.

Dapperwing

Dapperwings are present across various climate zones, yet they become particularly noticeable during the period known as Plenty. These birds can often be spotted flitting about on the remnants of structures within the Scarlet Forest, including those found in Area 12.

Ember Rufflizard

Ember Rufflizards are frequently spotted dwelling in high locations within the Oilwell Basin, like Area 3. These creatures emit a vibrant green glow and tend to travel in groups.

Rime Beetle

As a gamer, you’ll find those Rime Beetles swarming everywhere at the Iceshard Cliffs. To make spotting them easier, just navigate your map icons – press A or D keys, or use the left/right on your d-pad – and then pick ‘Filter Icons.’ Now, you’ve got a clear view of all those shiny Rime Beetles!

Gillopod

Gillopods are an exceptionally uncommon native species that inhabit the crumbling ruins of Wyveria, specifically on their walls. During our exploration, we discovered one in Area 8, but it required some patience as they can be elusive. In higher rank zones, you have the luxury to rest at any camp and redo the area if you don’t manage to find a Gillopod during your initial search.

Sandstar

In the finale of this Monster Hunter Wilds questline, you’ll be required to trap a radiant celestial entity known as a Sandstar. Capturing one will earn you the achievement or trophy titled “Star Catcher”.

At night, you might spot this rare animal in Area 13, located east of the oasis. It would be wise to pitch your tent close by since this unique creature doesn’t appear often. Furthermore, keep in mind that using the slinger on the flying Baunos in the desert can help you gather Screamer Pods.

Venture eastward from the oasis under the cover of darkness, and you might encounter a luminous, blue Sandstar creature. When it’s at a reasonable distance, don my Ghillie Mantle for stealthy approach. As soon as it doesn’t sense danger, launch a Screamer Pod to momentarily stun it. Once stunned, quickly switch to the net to capture the elusive Sandstar before it regains its composure.

Enjoy your hunt!
