Monster Hunter Wilds Nears 1 Million Peak Concurrent Players on Steam — and It’s Only Going to Get Bigger From Here

Monster Hunter Wilds has enjoyed a huge launch, with nearly 1 million concurrent players on Steam.

Capcom’s action-adventure title made its debut on personal computers (PC), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S consoles, swiftly climbing to be the eighth most-played game ever on Steam with an astounding 987,482 simultaneous players.

In comparison, it has surpassed the peak player numbers of hit games like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and Baldur’s Gate 3, and even outperformed its own predecessor, Monster Hunter World (2018), on Steam, where the latter had a maximum concurrent user count of 334,684.

It’s important to mention that the number of simultaneous players for Monster Hunter Wilds, as officially reported, is likely just a fraction of its true peak, considering both Sony and Microsoft do not disclose their user counts.

Is there a possibility that the number of players simultaneously playing Steam’s Monster Hunter Rise could reach new heights as it enters its first weekend on sale and beyond, potentially surpassing the 1 million mark currently held by Cyberpunk 2077? Some speculate that it may even reach an astounding 2 million concurrent players.

Although Capcom hasn’t officially disclosed Monster Hunter Wilds’ sales figures yet, it appears to be a massive hit based on initial indications. Notably, Monster Hunter World reached over 25 million sales in just six years, making it Capcom’s most successful game ever. However, the Steam user review rating for this game is ‘mixed,’ with some players reporting performance issues.
